Gospel reflection – Corpus Christi – Cycle C

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today, on the feast of Corpus Christi, we celebrate the astounding truth that Jesus gives us His very Body and Blood in the Eucharist — not a symbol, but His real presence. He gives Himself to feed our deepest hunger.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples: “You give them something to eat.” At first, they see only limits — five loaves, two fish. But Jesus takes their small offering, blesses it, breaks it, and feeds thousands.

This is exactly what He does at every Mass. He takes what seems small — bread and wine — and transforms it into His very self. And when we receive Him, we are called to become like Him: broken and given for others.

The Eucharist is both gift and mission. We are fed, so we can feed. We receive Christ, so we can carry Him to a hungry world.

Let us come to the altar with reverence, gratitude, and a renewed desire to be the Body of Christ — not just at Mass, but in every moment of our lives.

Amen.
