COVID-19 (Corona Virus) Pandemic

In line with national precautions to limit the spread of the Corona virus, Bishop Fintan Monahan has directed that there are to be no Public Masses in the Diocese of Killaloe until at least after 29 March 2020. The faithful have been dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holydays until the end of the month.

There will be no public Masses at Mount Saint Joseph Abbey until further notice.

The monks will continue to celebrate the Divine Office at the regular times and the church will remain open as usual.

Confessions will heard on Saturday and Sunday only between 2.30 and 4.00 pm.

The Guesthouse will remain closed until at least after 29 March 2020.

We have taken these decisions in order to safeguard the health of the monastic community and staff and of those who come to Mount Saint Joseph Abbey for whatever reason. In line with national guidelines, the aim of these measures is to limit the circulation of people so as to limit the potential for the virus to spread.

The monastic community continues to pray daily for the health and safety of our neighbours, friends and visitors and for the recovery of all those affected by the Corona virus and other illnesses and for the medical staff and all who care for the sick.
