In order to comply with latest measures that the Government and Department of Health officials announced yesterday for the counties Kildare, Laois and Offaly we are required to suspend all public Masses and gatherings for a period of two weeks from midnight Friday August 7th. There will be no Public Masses celebrated in Mount Saint Joseph Abbey or confessions heard in the Abbey church until further notice. Please note that the dispensation from the obligation to be physically present at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days is still in place. I know this is very difficult news particularly after all the hard work carried out in order that we could celebrate our daily Mass together safely but the measures announced this evening will have to be strictly adhered to in order to ease the spread of the virus. The Abbey church will still be open for private prayer each day. Please be assured that we will continue to remember our friends, neighbours and the wider Mount Saint Joseph Abbey faith community in the prayers of our Mass each day. We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as the restrictions are removed.
