Visit of Carmelite Nuns to Mount St Joseph Abbey

We were delighted to welcome members of the Carmelite Order who were staying with us this week. The nuns who are from Delgany Carmel, Kilmacud Carmel, Knock Carmel, Loughrea Carmel and New Ross Carmel were here for five days of prayer, sharing and reflection led by Sr Elizabeth Dunne SMR with additional input from Fr Jim Noonan OCD. The group includes those presently in formation, solemnly professed and those involved in providing formation. Fr Laurence speaking at this morning’s celebration of the Eucharist reminded the sisters to be conscious of how much we appreciate their vocation both in the Church and in the country, saying now more than ever that their hidden life of prayer was needed. He commended those involved in formation for their great work in keeping the “Lumen Christi” the “light of Christ” the special “Carmelite light” burning brightly in their hearts and their lives in order to pass it on to the “white veils” whose presence was such a great source of hope any joy for everyone. The group are seen here with Fr Laurence Walsh ocso Prior of Mount Saint Joseph Abbey.
