Directions

Mount Saint Joseph Abbey is located 2 miles / 3 km west of Roscrea, on the Shinrone road. The monastery grounds lie at the Offaly/Tipperary border.

If travelling on the M7

Take junction 22 signposted Roscrea off the M7 and proceed to the first major roundabout. Take the second exit left off this roundabout, in the direction of Limerick on the N7. At the next roundabout, the Limerick Road Roundabout, take the second exit towards Town Centre. Then see below from Limerick Road Roundabout.

If travelling on the N7

From Limerick you will be leaving the N7 at the first roundabout, the Limerick Road Roundabout. Take the first exit towards Town Centre.

From Dublin you will exit off the third roundabout for Roscrea, the Limerick Road Roundabout, taking the second exit towards Town Centre.

From Limerick Road Roundabout

Descend the hill towards Town Centre, passing an Opel garage on the right. At the bottom of the hill, turn left onto the Shinrone road. The monastery is only a few miles from there. You will see the large distinctive gates with gold eagles on the pillars. The guesthouse is the last building you will meet at the end of the long driveway.
